Julie “Z” Zdanowicz has been with Ohio University since January 2008. As Director of Development she raises money and awareness for strategic needs of the College. She collaborates frequently with the Alumni Association with programs including “Mary Poppins” at the Amsterdam Theater, NYC; OHIO University Players at Monomoy Theatre to name a few. She chaired the committee for “Herman Leonard’s 2009 undergraduate commencement address and honorary doctorate” in collaboration with Alden Library, Kennedy Museum of Art, University Communications & Marketing, Arts for OHIO, Baker Center, Herman Leonard’s Studio and the President’s Office.
Julie “Z”’s previous fund raising experience include a 7 1/2 million dollar capital campaign for the YWCA Columbus, Ohio while being a Board of Trustees for 6 yrs, she was the Volunteer Liaison and had national voting rights. She led the Powell Chamber of Commerce with membership (14 % increase) and the largest Women in Business Luncheon series in central Ohio as President/CEO. Julie developed and /or managed $60K operating budget and supervised a staff of 2, along with board & volunteer committees.
Being a 1980 graduate of the College she has many similar experiences as the alumni she meets with. Her first freshman dorm was Brown and is still in contact with the women she lived with. She tracked down the professors that she had class with and had FUN catching up with how art has changed since she was a student. She was a member of the 1979 Field Hockey Championship; when the coach and trainers drove 3 vans to the away games. She was managing editor of the undergraduate creative arts publication SPHERE, which is still being published today. Not to mention jumping onto the train, snowball fights between the greens and camping to create sculptures in the woods (found art).
After Graduating from OU: She had one- woman shows at Bradford College in Bradford, New Hampshire the Whistler House in Lowell Massachusetts and Art Alive! Lowell, Massachusetts to name a few. Her performance piece was noted at Massachusetts College of Art. Her work is in private collections.
Zdanowicz has continued to stay involved with the University after graduating in 1980; she was involved with the New England (President- elect) & Central Ohio (Steering Committee) Alumni Chapters. Also she is one of the founding board members of The Sales Centre at College of Business. She recently participated in the Women’s Centre’s first mentoring program and is still active today along with Field Hockey; with all of these organization she mentors students.
Upon relocating to Athens County she became involved with Leadership Athens County and graduated June 2009, being involved in her community is important to her. Her awards include – Citizen of the Year – Powell Chamber and the Richardson Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio. Julie recently was part of The Diary Arts Barn “smartphone“ exhibition May 2011.
She and her husband, Jeff Pullins, are owners of J & J Residential Appraisal Services, Inc. and Jeff is an adjunct faculty at Ohio Valley University. Jeff is a recent graduate of OHIO University- MBA ’11.
