Ohio University Alumni Association proudly welcomes four new Board members

The Ohio University Alumni Association has named four new members to its Board of Directors.

The proud Bobcats who have been named to the Board are Huey Ball (BSEd '67), Kim Barlag (BA '92, MA '17), Bob Brewster (BBA '02) and Dr. Andrew Razzano (BS '05, DO '09).

“We are grateful to have these incredible Bobcats joining the Ohio University Alumni Association Board,” said Jennifer Shutt Bowie, BSJ ’94, MS ’99, associate vice president of alumni relations and annual giving, and executive director of the Ohio University Alumni Association. “These four new members will bring unique insights and expertise to the Board, which endeavors to represent all OHIO alumni. Our new members are also outstanding examples for tomorrow’s OHIO graduates, showcasing career success, leadership, community support and personal achievement. We are proud to welcome them in their continuing commitment to Ohio University and its students.”

As the official organization representing Bobcats from across the world, the Ohio University Alumni Association aims to connect, inform and serve the University's diverse alumni and friends in support of the University's mission and vision. Composed of 24 OHIO graduates from many different backgrounds, the Ohio University Alumni Association Board represents the diversity of more than 275,000 Bobcats worldwide.

Huey Ball

Huey Ball graduated from Ohio University in 1967 with a degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies Comprehensive (History, Government, Sociology, Economics).  A retired senior account representative, for the 3M Company, Ball sold adhesives, sealers, coatings, electrical connectors, temperature sensing devices and a variety of other products used by Big Three auto manufacturers both OEM and aftermarket.   

Also during his wide-ranging career, Ball was self-employed in the insurance and securities industry, worked in the Industrial products industry and in retirement served as a substitute teacher at the Ypsilanti Middle and High School. 

He and his wife, Grace M. Ball, have three children, Eric, Monica and Nicole, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Notably, Eric shares the Rose Bowl touchdown record (four touchdowns) with four other athletes, Monica is a Purdue University graduate where she was a four-year starter for the volleyball team, and Nicole was the 1996 Michigan 200-meter champion while a student at Ypsilanti High School.

Ball is a Founding Member of the Ebony Bobcat Network ,which has funded more than $500,000 towards the Ohio University Urban Scholars Program. He is also a contributor to "Ohio University, The Spirit of a Singular Place 1804-2004. A 200-year history of the University,” by Betty Hollow.

Currently, he is the facilitator of the Contemporary Issues Sunday School Class at Detroit's Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.

Kim Barlag 

Kim Barlag is the president and CEO of the Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce in Pickerington, Ohio. Barlag and her team support more than 435 member businesses and organizations, providing them with support/resources, networking/marketing opportunities, professional development, collaboration, and advocacy. The Chamber organizes six signature events a year, plus quarterly luncheons, a monthly networking group, After Hours Networking events, a Women’s Leadership Coalition, and more.

Barlag also serves on the Fairfield 33 Development Alliance Board of Directors, the Pickerington Village Association Board, and the Fairfield County Business Advisory Council. She is also a member of the Pickerington Lions Club. 

Previously, Barlag served as the director of communications and marketing for Ohio University’s Patton College of Education for eight years. She was also an adjunct professor in the School of Visual Communication. 

Barlag is halfway through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organization Management, a four-year program resulting in the IOM certification. She has a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Visual Communication Management from Ohio University. In addition, she has had season tickets for Ohio University football for the last 10 years and is a loyal Bobcat!

Bob Brewster

Bob Brewster is a 2002 graduate of the College of Business at Ohio University. Since graduation, Brewster has served in multiple roles within the College as an alumnus including serving on the board of the Society of the Alumni and Friends and the Finance Advisory Council.  He has also been a mentor to countless students and welcomed several interns.

Brewster prides himself on his extensive personal and professional networks, and loves helping Bobcat alumni find their way back to the University.

A risk management professional by trade, he is currently a vice president with Hylant, an insurance, employee benefits and risk management advisory firm with deep history in the state of Ohio. Brewster consults with executives of large companies each day.

Brewster is also active in the business community serving on several boards and committees including Finance Executives International, Association for Corporate Growth, Construction Financial Management Association, just to name a few.

The proud Bobcat is an Akron, Ohio native and has lived in the great Columbus, Ohio area since graduation. He is happily married to his wife, Janie, and they have two active boys, RJ (13) and James (11). 

 

Dr. Andrew Razzano

Dr. Andrew Razzano

Andrew J. Razzano, D.O. is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon whose special interests include sports medicine and the treatment of knee, shoulder, and elbow injuries. He performs knee and shoulder total joint replacements, as well as minimally invasive treatments for the knee, shoulder and elbow. 

Dr. Razzano graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology in 2005 and went on to earn his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. After completing his orthopedic surgical residency at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon, Ohio in 2014, Dr. Razzano completed an ACGME certified orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine under Dr. Timothy Kremchek.

During his fellowship, Dr. Razzano participated in team coverage of the Cincinnati Reds and their affiliates, and was the team physician for Morehead State University and Princeton High School.

Dr. Razzano has served as the team physician for Mason High School since 2018 and is the medical director for Mason School District. Dr. Razzano has been part of the Cincinnati Reds medical staff and their affiliates since 2017 and has accepted the role of Medical Director in 2023. 

In addition to these responsibilities he holds regular business and extended hours for patients at the Mason Office located at 4859 Nixon Park Dr, Mason, Ohio. Dr. Razzano’s passion for keeping athletes on the field is rooted in time spent playing football and baseball. He still enjoys staying active outdoors by hiking, mountaineering, and skiing. Dr. Razzano resides in Mason, Ohio.

Ohio University welcomes these four accomplished and dedicated graduates to the Ohio University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
