Late Arrival Information

Welcome to OHIO

There's a lot to learn and discover while studying abroad at OHIO — but most importantly, you're now a part of a community that's focused on your success — today, tomorrow and forever.

Because we want to ensure your arrival to OHIO is just as successful as the time you will spend here over the next few years, we have compiled information and resources that you may find useful on this web page.

Getting Started

No matter when you are planning to arrive to campus, there are some general tasks you should complete to prepare yourself for a successful school year.

1. Complete All Steps on the Admitted Student Page

If you have not done so already, review the Admitted Students page and complete all steps on the page that you have not previously completed.

Through the Admitted Students page, you'll learn everything you need to know to help you navigate campus such as accessing your OHIO ID and email, setting up Wi-fi on campus and obtaining an Ohio University ID Card. Additionally, you'll learn the steps you need to take with ISSS to confirm your arrival and update your SEVIS record.

2. Update Your Timezone in Outlook

Students should update their Outlook calendars when arriving on campus.

  • Open Outlook – you can navigate to catmail.ohio.edu
  • Login using your OHIO email and password.
  • Click on your name (it usually looks like a circle with your initials) in the upper right corner
  • Click "View Account"
  • Select "View Settings and Privacy"
  • Select "Language and Region"
  • Select the "Time Zone" dropdown and select "Eastern Time (U.S. & Canada)

3. Review the Dependent Presentation (If Applicable)

Students with dependents can watch the recorded presentation and reach out iso@ohio.edu if they have additional questions.

Late Arrival Information

If the ISSS team has given you approval to arrive to campus late and you will miss some or all of International Student Orientation, you should complete the following steps in addition to those listed on the Admitted Student page.

  • 1. Watch Orientation Video and Complete Quiz

All international students must watch the "F-1 10 Rules for Immigration Session Video." After watching the video, complete the "10 Rules" quiz (you must watch the video first). ISSS cannot remove your registration hold until you watch the video and complete the quiz. Please allow 1 business day for ISSS to remove the hold.

  • 2. Pick Up Your Welcome Bag

We have a welcome bag for you! Please stop by the ISSS office between the hours of 8am and 5pm (we are closed for lunch from 12-1pm) to pick up your bag. The Yamada International House's address is 56 E. Union Street Athens, Ohio.

  • 3. Complete New Employee Paperwork

If you have a graduate appointment, you must complete international student employee paperwork and meet with Human Resources (HR) to have your identification documents verified. You may not begin work until you have completed and submitted your paperwork. The HR office is located at Grosvenor West, Room 103.
