Step into an Advanced Role

Ohio University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Doctor of Nursing Practice (BSN-DNP) program, which began in 2017, is geared toward baccalaureate-level professionals already working in the field.

This online, 70-credit program with limited On Campus Intensives allows students to customize their education with specializations in either direct patient care (AG-ACNP, FNP or PMHNP) or indirect patient care as a nurse executive (as an NE or NL). Courses include explorations of health policy, quality and safety in population health, and epidemiology for advanced nursing practice.

Upon completion, you'll emerge ready to pursue practitioner, leadership, and educational roles.

Customize Your Education

Ohio University's BSN-DNP program is geared toward working nurses who want to propel their careers to new heights. Courses in the program include explorations of health policy, quality and safety in population health, and epidemiology for advanced nursing practice.

Advanced Pharmacology

Focuses on pharmacotherapeutics across the lifespan with emphasis on clinical decision making by advanced practice nurses. Laws governing prescriptive authority and privileges of advanced practice nurses are addressed. Emphasis on prescriptive decisions with the context of outcomes, safety, quality and costs.

Quality and Safety in Population Health

Explores theoretical foundations and frameworks for population health and quality improvement. Focuses on equitable health policies to promote diversity, equity and inclusion. Examines impact of community-based population health and risk mitigation strategies or initiatives.

Epidemiology and Population Health for Advanced Nursing Practice

Examines the importance of epidemiology in prevention of disease and promotion of health as related to advanced nursing practice. Focus on applying epidemiological data to develop strategies related to culturally appropriate population health care and promotion.

Step into an Advanced Role

With additional training in nursing education, many practitioners with a DNP have also moved into an educational setting as nursing faculty. After graduation, you will be well-prepared to meet the healthcare needs of individuals, families and communities of the future.
