Healthy OHIO engagement and prize opportunities

The Healthy OHIO program has announced an online engagement drive to ensure employees on all campuses and employees of all work formats are engaged with their own well-being. 

On October 11, the Healthy OHIO program will be present at the Human Resources’ Resource Fair to talk to employees directly. Though, Healthy OHIO team members will also be encouraging participation from employees who can’t attend in-person. 

“We’ll be reaching out via email and through Virgin Pulse to encourage eligible employees to hop onto our websites and mobile well-being platform to find the resources that are meaningful to them,” explained Annie Laurie Cadmus, Associate Director of Healthy OHIO.

Healthy OHIO has prepared a variety of door prizes in the form of well-being gift bags, filled with items such as fitness equipment, t-shirts, essential oil rollers and water bottles. The gift bags will be mailed directly to door prize winners at the conclusion of the engagement drive. 

Benefits-participating employees (and their benefits-enrolled spouses/partners) will have two ways to receive entry into the door prize: 

1.  Enroll: Those who are not currently enrolled in the University’s mobile wellbeing platform, Virgin Pulse, can earn $25* and one entry into a door prize for well-being gift bags if they enroll during the month of October 2023. 
2. Engage: Individuals already enrolled in Virgin Pulse can receive an entry into the door prizes available by engaging on the platform through the company-wide October challenge. Any individual who registers for the Global Connect Challenge on Virgin Pulse will receive one entry into the door prize. The Global Connect Challenge is a multi-week team based well-being challenge on Virgin Pulse aimed at combating the loneliness epidemic facing employees nationwide.

Additional opportunities to earn a door prize include: 

1. Become a Wellness Champion: Any employee who volunteers to serve as a Wellness Champion by completing the online form will receive one entry into the door prize.
2. Attend Employee-Only Restorative Yoga on Tuesdays at 6:30p.m: Attendance at any October Restorative Yoga class will earn one entry into the door prize. Register in advance using the Member Portal (employees use SSO to sign on to the portal).
3. Waiting List: Sign up to be added to our waiting list for free employee wellbeing programs such as Risk Reduction, Practical Nutrition and Mindful Eating. 

Participation reports will be compiled at the conclusion of October, with randomly-selected winners announced in early November. Winners will be contacted via email and, if they accept the prize, they must supply a mailing address for the prize (they may also opt to pick up the prize at WellWorks, Grover Center E124). While individuals can earn more than one entry into the door prizes, each individual can only receive one prize.  

*In fiscal year 2024, employees must be enrolled in Virgin Pulse to receive their financial incentive for participating in a biometric health screening. In an effort to encourage enrollment, any eligible OHIO employee/spouse/partner who successfully enrolls by June 30, 2024 will receive $25 on a future paycheck. Taxed as income.
