Biography
David Oyuke is an award winning creative, educator, voice over artist and producer with a 14 year career spanning numerous roles in voice acting, radio, TV, podcasting, radio station management and media consultation. He began his career as a radio host in Nairobi, Kenya, working in several leading media houses in the region. He has also worked in TV as an international news reporter and TV host. As a voice actor and producer, his work has been featured across multiple continents for clients such as National Geographic, Netflix, Coca Cola, The World Bank and more. He won the APVA Award for voice artists in 2022 and is also a juror for SOVAS, the leading voice arts and sciences platform for the global voice acting community.
He is also a poet, hip hop and spoken word artist who started performing on stage as a teen. He was one of the founding poets who helped to establish poetry and spoken word workshops across Africa in the early 2000s through Slam Africa. His work has been read in numerous countries and he eventually published his first poetry book, flowers in a broken vase, in 2018 and continues to write poetry.
In 2023, he joined OU as a grad student in the MFA program in the Scripps College of Communication. His focus was on documentary and XR production with a focus on creativity and well-being. In that time he taught podcasting production classes, receiving the 2024 teaching award, the 2025 Scripps Learn Pillar Award, the 2026 MFA Thesis award, as well as the first category prize for his film, Cut From A Different Cloth, from the Athens International Film and Video Festival. His thesis film, Sacred Seats, was filmed in Athens, Ohio, to wide acclaim and is currently in active festival consideration. As a podcaster, he produces, edits and hosts the yearly Ohio University Music Industry Summit's official artist discovery podcast - the Launchpad, which is also syndicated across parts of Ohio.
