Community Education Workshop Series
Community Education workshops are open to the general public regardless of educational background. These classes are self-supporting, and the fees collected from Community Education cover all instructional, administrative, and overhead cost of the program.
All ages are welcome, unless noted.
Community Education workshops do not carry credit applicable toward an Ohio University degree or transferable to other institutions. Classes are scheduled year-round.

Refund Policy
Full refunds are given for cancellations made before the registration deadline of each workshop. Cancellations received after the registration deadline will not receive a refund, as materials have already been purchased and preparations made for the workshop.
If you are unable to attend, registration can be transferred to another attendee for the same workshop. Send new attendee’s information: name, email, & *date of birth to Ann Holmes.
Registrations cannot be transferred to another workshop.
If a workshop is canceled due to low enrollment, registrants will be notified in advance and full refunds will be issued.

Make Your Own Movie

Welcoming all creative minds of any experience level or talent who have an interest in learning what goes on behind the scenes and cameras! This series has 9 parts that can also be standalone classes.
More about the instructor: Daniel Griesheimer is a lifelong Chillicothe native and award winning filmmaker best known for his passion to inspire others by fostering a strong collaborative creative community throughout southern Ohio. He is the owner of Ohio Creations LLC, which operates under the same mission to be a perfect start for local artists to network with other artists in the film community. Daniel has spent nearly fifteen years working in the film industry from Ohio to L.A. and has a special talent for film production and networking with Ohio's leading professionals in the industry. Join Daniel as he brings you through the process of constructing an independent film from the drawing board to your film award.

Pickleball is a fun and growing sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and ping-pong. It is played with paddles and wiffle balls and requires movements similar to tennis. The first half of class is instructional. We will cover the basics of gameplay, rules, scoring, skill development, and strategy. The second half of class will be open play to practice the skills discussed.
Paddles & wiffle balls will be supplied. Wear tennis shoes.

Fun for all ages! Learn about an enduring tradition, the timeless art of henna body art and the wonderful artistry of beautiful patterns that comes with practice and control. This course allows students to get in touch with their creative side, and learn the methods required when using natural henna paste to achieve beautiful, flowing pieces of body artwork. Each student will receive a custom henna design.

Sugar Cane Distillates: Rum and Beyond

When we hear the word sugar cane, we often think purely of rum. And while that is a vast part, and even the world of rum is so large, we are going to take a deep dive into the world of sugar cane distillates. We will talk about the history of the spirit, distilling techniques, and where the world of sugar cane is going next. This will have a four-spirit sampling as we walk through the different varieties as a class. Feel free to take notes, ask questions, and be prepared to talk about your experiences with each varietal. In addition to the past, present, and future of the topic, we will also be making two cocktails created by two of Tara's favorite mixologists, using products created by African American Distillers.
