Thomas E. Antonacci, Geological Sciences Alumni Advisory Board Member
University of Pittsburgh B.S. Geology '09, Ohio University M.S. Geology '12
Thomas E. Antonacci earned his B.S. in Geology with a certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh. After completing an internship for an environmental consulting firm in his hometown of Harrisburg, PA, he returned to school and earned his M.S. in Geology from Ohio University. Under advisement from Dr. Eung Seok Lee, Antonacci's research at Ohio University centered on hydrogeology, specifically groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling of a shallow, alluvial aquifer in southeastern Ohio. After receiving his degree from OHIO, Antonacci started his career as an environmental consultant at Civil & Environmental Consultants in Export, PA, where he currently works.
As a consultant, he has been heavily involved in field data collection, data management, and report preparation. Specifically, he has had the opportunity to be the lead field personnel for multiple investigations at steel manufacturing facilities, perform emergency landslide environmental remediation, and assist in multiple spill investigations and remediations. In part, Antonacci attributes his success as an environmental consultant to the hydrogeological fundamentals he learned at Ohio University.
