After You Apply as an International Student
Activate Your OHIO ID
Activate your OHIO ID! Your birth date and your personal identification (PID) number (provided in your application acknowledgement letter) are all you need to officially activate your online OHIO access, including email.
Make sure you check your OHIO email regularly. All official correspondence, including scholarship notification and your I-20, will be sent to your Ohio University email account.
Submit Required Additional Materials
Some programs have more selective criteria above and beyond general admission guidelines and require submission of additional application materials beyond general admission requirements. You should review the requirements for your major and submit any additional required materials.
Submit Required Financial Documents
To apply for a student visa, you must be issued a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20) by the university. This requires you submit financial documentation demonstrating you have the required funds to support your academic and living expenses for a 9-month (2 semester) academic year.
Submit the following to email@example.com:
- A completed copy of the International Student Financial Form confirming the amount of funding that will be provided by your sponsor
Official bank statement(s) or bank letter(s) from your sponsor’s bank showing accessible funds (generally checking or savings account balances) for the required amount. The name on the bank account must match the name on the Financial Form and must be written in English.
If you will receive a government or other external scholarships, provide proof of the award and the amount.
Check Application Status
Once you've activated your OHIO ID, you can check your application status online 24 hours a day, seven days a week! Statuses are updated at least nightly. Please remember that while we may have received your application materials, we can provide updates only on those materials that have been processed.
Change Entry Term
In most cases, your offer of admission to OHIO is valid for one academic year. A new application (without fee) is required to change your intended entry term.
Appeal Admission Decision
Students who are not initially admitted to the University or, in some cases to a more selective program, may appeal the decision.
