Zanesville, Ohio - Ohio University Zanesville Career Services recently launched the Career Closet, a free resource to provide students and alumni lightly worn career-related business professional and business casual clothing.

The Career Closet is located on campus, designed to reflect a small retail store, with clothing racks and even a dressing room. From suits and slacks, to collared shirts, skirts and dress shoes, the Career Closet offers attire for interviews, internships, networking events, and more.

“Access to opportunity is important,” Corey Kundert, OHIO Zanesville career coach, said. “Providing our students and alumni with resources to minimize and eliminate barriers to entering the workforce, while preserving human dignity and respect, is an essential aspect of how we support students in the Career Services office.”

Items available in the Career Closet are supplied by donations from OHIO Zanesville faculty and staff, campus partners and community members. Career Services continues to accept new donations for both men’s and women’s clothing. Donations can be dropped off at student services on weekdays between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“Going through your closet and donating professional clothing you never wear anymore is a small act that can have a big impact for a student,” Kundert added.

The Career Closet is just one of the many resources the career services office provides OHIO Zanesville students as they prepare to enter the workforce as competent and confident professionals.

“We’re always trying to build intentional relationships with students and help them ask good questions about their interests, strengths, and goals while providing them with the tools to be successful members of their community,” Kundert said.

Students who work with career services during their time at OHIO Zanesville tend to land jobs after graduation faster and feel more prepared to enter the workforce. Career services also offers free resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, career readiness training and guidance on the job search process.

“My experience with the career center has been amazing,” Madison Malone, Human Biology major, said. “Corey has helped me so much; I used to have so much stress and anxiety about what I was going to do after graduation. I now have a lot more insight into my options and a great asset to help me set those plans into action. OHIO Zanesville career services has made a huge impact on my life.”
