The Women's Center is looking for performances, MCs, graphic designers, volunteers, and more, for its International Women's Day Festival to be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017.

Co-sponsors for this event include the Multicultural Center, Black Student Cultural Programming Board, International Student Union, the Center for International Studies, and International Student and Faculty Services.

The International Women's Day Festival provides an opportunity for the campus community to highlight women's and girl's achievements, to reflect on women's status today, and to imagine a future where all women are valued as local, national, and global citizens. We encourage all members of our community - domestic and international, students, faculty, staff, and community and family members - to participate in the event.

The sub-theme for this year's International Women's Day Festival is "Making A Difference." Making A Difference was chosen in order to recognize the following:

  1. Feminized work, or work associated with women, which is often undervalued and unrecognized;
  2. Women leaders from around the world;
  3. Allies working to improve the lives of women around the world, while acknowledging and respecting cultural differences;
  4. Activists, researchers, and governmental leaders who recognize the diversity of women, and promote policies, research, and community engagement that supports women as members of multicultural and LGBTQ communities, as well as various other groups with which women identify.
