Voinovich School welcomes Mark J. Cappone

The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs is pleased to announce Mark J. Cappone as the Senior Executive in Residence - Appalachia at the Voinovich Academy for Excellence in Public Service. 

Cappone is joining the Voinovich Academy after more than 25 years of military and government service. Now, he looks forward to contributing to the Voinovich School, Ohio University, and the region. 

“The Voinovich School has already positively impacted Appalachia as well as the entire state of Ohio through innovative programs and other initiatives under Dean Weinberg’s leadership. I’m honored, blessed, excited, there are so many adjectives to describe how much I’m looking forward to helping make a difference,” Cappone said. 

Cappone was born and raised in Appalachia, giving him a unique perspective and desire to engage with the region. He is ready to engage with the Academy to further its’ and Appalachia’s growth. 

“I think the Academy’s ‘secret sauce’ is its ability to focus on Ohio’s public service leaders, as well as customize its programs based on their needs. Being part of the Academy’s growth as we deliver these capabilities to leaders in Appalachia Ohio is energizing,” Cappone said.
