FAQs for International Graduate Applicants

What are the application deadlines?

Doctoral Program: Feb. 1. Students are admitted to the doctoral program in the Fall and Summer semesters.

Master's program: Feb. 1 for fall admission and academic year financial aid. Application for admission will be considered at other times if space is available.

Can the GRE and TOEFL requirements be waived?

The TOEFL can be waived if a student received a degree within the last two years from a university where the language of instruction was English. The GRE cannot be waived under any circumstance.

I am already a student in the USA (at Ohio University or elsewhere). Can the GRE and TOEFL requirements be waived for me?

No, they cannot be waived even if you are already a student in the USA, even in the same university.

Is it possible for me to get admission and then take the GRE and TOEFL tests?

No. The test scores have to be available for a student to be considered for admission.

Is financial aid available to all students?

Financial aid is awarded to all doctoral students. It is awarded to about 12 of the most qualified master's students who meet the Feb. 1 deadline. Some who are accepted into the master's program do not get aid. For further information, please contact:
