Summer First-Year Guest Schedule

This schedule is for in-person summer orientation programs for first-year student's families and guests in May, June, and July 2026. All details are subject to change.

Day 1 Arrival Information: Parking & Shuttle

All participants should park in Convocation Center Lots 127 or 128. For GPS directions, enter 95 Richland Avenue16 West Green Drive, Athens, Ohio 45701. Follow the “Orientation Parking” signs to the designated area, where Orientation Leaders will be stationed at the entrance to distribute parking passes. Students and guests staying overnight in a residence hall should bring their belongings with them. 

On Day 1, shuttles will run from 8:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. between parking lots 127 and 128, Jefferson Hall (your first stop for check-in), and Baker University Center. A QR code to track the shuttles can be found at the end of the printed schedule you will receive during check in with the BSO team.

Required Program Check-In & Optional Activities

Students and guests must complete two check-in steps (see chart below). Students should bring a valid ID; laptops are not needed until Day 2. You may arrive anytime during the check-in window, but we recommend arriving at least 90 minutes before it closes to complete all steps. Optional activities are also available to customize your experience.

OHIO Honors Program (Morton Hall 127), Hosted by OHIO Honors Program: The OHIO Honors Program (OHP) is an experience-based program that supports students through interdisciplinary coursework and out-of-class activities. In this session, admitted OHP students and their guests will learn about program requirements, opportunities, and create a plan for their first semester.The OHIO Honors Program (OHP) empowers students to align their personal interests with their academic pursuits and follow their learning wherever it leads. In this session, you will learn more about the opportunities available and expectations for course registration.

A QR code to track shuttle locations is provided at the end of the printed schedule you received during Check-In: Step Two. If you plan to skip breakfast, Morton Hall is the closest shuttle stop for the Academic College Session.

Representatives from Housing and Residence Life, Transportation and Parking Services, Culinary Services, Bobcat Depot, and the Bobcat Student Orientation team will share important reminders and next steps to help you and your student prepare for the fall semester.

Wrap up your orientation experience with a chance to ask final questions and take part in a special Bobcat Student Orientation tradition—writing a letter to your student. These letters will be delivered a few weeks into the semester as a thoughtful reminder of your support. Paper and envelopes will be provided. You can drop off your letter in the mailboxes located inside The Front Room Coffeehouse on the fourth floor of Baker University Center.

3:00 - 4:45 p.m.Free Time
While your student completes course registration in another building, we encourage you to connect with other guests. Once students are finished, they will head to Baker University Center to check out and pick up their student IDs, making Baker a convenient spot to wait for them.
