Student Jobs at Ohio University Lancaster
Below is the current list of student employment opportunities on the Lancaster campus. To be eligible, you must be enrolled for classes at Ohio University, another post-secondary institution, or a secondary school, during the current semester, immediately previous semester, or immediately upcoming semester (e.g., enrollment spring semester allows work to continue through summer semester). Home schooled students must supply appropriate documentation.
Student workers must complete payroll forms which are available in the Dean's Office on the 5th floor of Brasee Hall before starting work.

Student Employment Opportunities
Computer Lab/IT Help Desk Assistant
Qualifications: Employability as determined by Ohio University Policy and Procedure. Interpersonal communication skills. Detail oriented. Good technology literacy skills.
Responsibilities: Answer phone, trouble shoot where they have expertise, seek assistance in areas where they do not have expertise, enter work orders into system, clean equipment, fill printers with paper, assist patrons with software questions in classrooms and open computer labs, assist in OULN classrooms as needed.
Facilities Student Worker (Grounds)
Qualifications: Must be a full-time Ohio University Lancaster student, must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, must be able to follow oral instructions, must be able to work in hot/dusty outside environment (workday can involve hours in a squatting or bent over physical position), must be able to lift 35 pounds. Must qualify for Federal Work Study.
Responsibilities: Students perform general grounds maintenance tasks throughout the Lancaster campus including, but not limited to, the following: operating a weed eater, perform island mowing, sidewalk edging and weed removal, weed landscape beds and tress base areas, mulch, chemical spot spraying of weeds, water trees around Rogge Pavilion, and compositing site, assist with compositing site and chip materials, trash collection, paint projects, including curb markings, clean tool crib and secure tools, and sweep shop. Occasional lifting and/or use of a ladder.
Facilities Student Worker (Custodial)
Qualifications: Must be a full-time Ohio University Lancaster student. Must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, must be able to follow oral instructions, must be able to work in hot/dusty outside environment (workday can involve hours in a squatting or bent over physical position), must be able to lift 35 pounds. Must qualify for Federal Work Study.
Responsibilities: Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, polishes, and renews floor surfaces. Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets. Washes walls, cleans, dusts and waxes furniture and fixtures. Cleans glass and mirrors. Cleans and empties trash receptacles. Removes snow and ice from walkways and entrance areas. Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures & drinking fountains. Other duties as appropriately assigned.
Gym/Athletics
Qualifications: Courteous, punctual and customer service-oriented student who is responsible and reliable. Ability to work with little supervision. Possess good communication skills.
Responsibilities: Helps with gymnasium set-up for games. Assists with keeping weight room clean and presentable.
Information Desk student worker
Qualifications: Courteous, punctual and customer service-oriented student who is responsible and reliable. Ability to work with little supervision. Possess good communication skills.
Responsibilities: Answer switchboard, direct calls and walk-in customers, filing, copying, other duties as assigned.
Lab/Student Assistant
Qualifications: Prior completion of science courses (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics) and associated labs with a grade of B or better.
Responsibilities: Preparing materials for labs or projects, clean-up of lab, assisting students during lab, other duties as assigned.
Library Assistant
Qualifications: Customer service-oriented with an ability to interact with a variety of people who have various needs. Self-motivated. Possesses time management and scheduling skills. Reliable and team focused. Knowledge of general office and basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office Suite). Some knowledge of Internet searching skills preferred, not required. Money-handling skills preferred, not required.
Responsibilities: Helping library users, including users from Ohio University Lancaster and the broader community. Staffing/serving as point of contact at the Circulation desk. Checking materials in/out, shelving books, processing materials. Keeping assigned shelves, public areas, circulation desk, and related work areas organized and clean. Trouble-shooting equipment/hardware and assisting library users with computer software-related issues. Performing general office tasks (data entry, filing, and verification of holdings, etc.) Using cash register and handling money. Other duties as assigned.
Marketing/Public Relations Assistant
Qualifications: Excellent writing and communication skills, photography knowledge, familiarity with desktop publishing design principles, telephone skills, data entry, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office software.
Responsibilities: Draft press releases; maintain News Bulletin Board and Binder; design advertisements and fliers; photograph school events; organize/maintain filing system; draft letters to staff, vendors, and service providers; assist with promotional events; design Power Point presentations; assist with events.
Office Assistant – Dean’s office, Faculty Support
Qualifications: Must possess strong communication skills, excellent verbal and customer service skills, basic computer skills, and familiarity with office phones. Must be professional, punctual, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential in this position.
Responsibilities: Provide part-time shared clerical assistance to the Dean’s office. Responsibilities include filing, typing, copying, scanning, and faxing documents, merging letters, envelopes, and labels, creating spreadsheets, working in databases, invitations, and program brochures. Answer phones and assist with walk-in traffic including students, staff, faculty, and community members. Assist with campus/center events and other projects as needed. May be required to work evenings and/or weekends for events.
OULN
Qualifications: Employability as determined by Ohio University Policy and Procedure. Technology literate. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities: Operate touchpad or web interface to control in-room technology including cameras, microphones, PC, and document camera.
Provide troubleshooting on the technology. Disseminate and collect paperwork associated with the class. OULN operators must operate under a confidentiality agreement and must be dependable.
Student Services Assistants
Qualifications: Must be well organized and have great attention to detail; must also be friendly and able to multi-task. Preference may be given to students who have successfully completed UC 1000 at OHIO Lancaster.
Responsibilities: Greet students and families both in person and on the phone; answer basic questions about the admissions process at OHIO Lancaster as well as our academic offerings; schedule appointments for personnel in the department; complete basic data entry of applications and prospect inquiry cards; print and prepare for mailing daily recruitment letters; create admissions files; utilize OnBase, which includes preparing admission files to be scanned into the system; utilize the university CRM and answer basic questions; work during various Student Services functions, to include providing campus tours.
Testing Center Worker
Qualifications: Ability to multi-task and attend to details. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to welcome students with a friendly face. Answer and respond to phone calls and respond to a diversity of questions. Ability to enforce testing center guidelines. Ability to work alone. Possible evening shift.
Responsibilities: Clerical and reception duties. Set up and administer tests in the testing center. Make appointments for testing. Maintain security of tests in the testing center.
Academic Tutors
Qualifications: Must have an “A” in the subject and a faculty recommendation. Ability to communicate and encourage frustrated students.
Responsibilities: Tutor subjects to students seeking assistance for academics. Make appointments, answer phone calls, minimal clerical duties.
