Ohio University celebrates International Education Week (IEW) each year in November. IEW promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the U.S.
ISSS Programs and Events
The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides opportunities for members of the Ohio University international community to engage in a variety of meaningful experiences. Additionally, ISSS collaborates with the greater University community by offering programs, events, training and consultation, and other services to advance global diversity on campus, foster transformative intercultural experiences and promote the development of global leaders.

Student and Scholar AdvisingOffered WeeklyMeet with a member of the ISSS team to get answers to any questions you may have about living and learning at OHIO. Advising appointments are offered at various times and through multiple modalities to make it easy for you to connect with them.

International Student OrientationOffered Each SemesterAll admitted international students must attend International Student Orientation (ISO), which is offered prior to the start of each semester. ISO covers various topics that are crucial for a students' success at OHIO, ranging from academics to U.S. culture.

Training and ConsultationOffered at Various TimesThe ISSS team offers training and consultation to help OHIO faculty and staff learn about immigration policies and how they may impact the students they work with each day. The team offers occasional open training events, program consultation and department-specific training.

Cherry Blossom Spring Blooms
OHIO's iconic cherry blossom trees draw attention each year, as their blooms symbolize the arrival of spring in Athens. The trees were given as a gift in 1979 by Chubu University in honor of OHIO's 175th anniversary.

Ohio University International Week
International Week is facilitated by International Student Union (ISU) and has been celebrated as early as 1969. International Week is held each spring to facilitate international awareness and diversity.

Do you need an international flag for an event or engagement? The Office of Global Affairs maintains OHIO's collection of International Flags, which are available to the University community to borrow for events and engagements.
