It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Ohio University’s Bobcat Student Orientation! OHIO’s BSO is the perfect time for incoming Bobcats to explore their new hOUme away from home, schedule their much-anticipated classes and discover all of the opportunities OHIO had to offer. And yes, that does include checking out the study away and/or abroad opportunities from Ohio University’s Office of Global Opportunities! Here’s 3 reasons why yOU, an incoming Bobcat, should visit OGO during OHIO’s BSO:
1. To Learn About Us and Our Opportunities
Study away and/or abroad experiences are usually foreign concepts (so punny!) to many of our students. But, in just a quick conversation, we can cover the basics or 101s of our offered programs, affiliated providers, scholarships and benefits of studying away and/or abroad with us. We’ll even touch on some smaller aspects, such as trip durations, budgeting, checklists and the health and safety. By learning about us and our opportunities, you’ll be able to get more comfortable with our options and begin planning your next adventure with us.
Beginners Tip: Starting the planning process early makes it easier to incorporate your global experience into your graduation plan.
2. To Establish Connections
Our office is made up of peer advisors, program coordinators, professional staff, and even advisors from our affiliate provider, CIS Abroad! These friendly faces help our office run smoothly and help you connect with the right global experience for you! Several members of our professional staff are Bobcat alums, who can provide the insider scoop on how they made the most of their time at OHIO! Chit-chat and befriend us! We’d love to be your next connection that supports you wherever you may GO!
Beginners Tip: We offer a ton of different ways to chat with our team! Walk-in advising is great for quick chats/questions, or scheduled appointments with our professional advisors can be great when you want to deep dive into the planning process!
3. To Study, Work, Volunteer, Intern, and GO!
Did we mention we’re more than just a study abroad office? We also offer domestic opportunities – we call them study away experiences! Your global experience doesn’t just have to focus on studying though, as we offer our Bobcats expanded opportunities of work, volunteering or even interning during their time abroad. Whether you’re earning course credits or gaining professional experience while away, every option ensures you’ll be making the most of your stay.
Beginners Tip: Not all programs fit into just one category! There are many options to study and intern, or study and volunteer while your on your experience.
