Lactation Rooms

Ohio University is continuing to develop strategies to be supportive of parents on campus, including faculty, staff, and students, as well as visitors. The university has designated the lactation rooms described below for use by those who are breastfeeding, pumping, or chestfeeding. Use of the rooms is on a first-come, first-served basis, and room usage cannot be reserved. Below details the locations of lactation rooms on the Athens, Regional, and Extension campuses.

University employees, including student employees, may contact Human Resources to obtain information about work breaks for expressing breast milk.

Microwaves and Refrigerators

Microwaves have been provided in many of the lactation rooms for sterilization purposes. Since the microwave is used for sterilization, please clean it with the provided wipes after each use. Some rooms contain refrigerators which may be used for storing breast milk. Other items should not be stored in the refrigerator. Each parent is solely responsible for any items, including breast milk, which they choose to leave in the lactation room. Ohio University and the individuals who maintain the lactation rooms are not responsible for any loss, damage, or misuse of any items or property left in any lactation room.
