AFRICAN STUDENT UNION (ASU)

To educate about Africa and its people and celebrate African culture.

ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY INC. (Delta Phi Chapter)

To promote unity and friendship among college women, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to alleviate problems concerning girls and women, and be of service to the community.

ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC. (Phi Chapter)

The National Board of Directors of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated realizes that as this great organization embarks upon its Centennial Celebration, it is important that the entire brotherhood stops and assesses what the organization is today and where it is going in the future. It is fully realized that in order to assure that Alpha continues to be the premiere organization for ?the better making of men,? the organization must continue to refine its processes and respond to the internal and external forces that are ever present within and around it.

ALPHA PSI LAMBDA FRATERNITY, INC. (Eta Chapter)

We are a Co-educational Fraternity geared towards the goals of Latino students on university campuses. As the fastest growing minority in this country, it is becoming more and more important that the Latino community continue their education. This trend has also brought with it a need for cultural awareness, cultural identity, and cross cultural understanding. As a result, there is an increased need for Alpha Psi Lambda for which we try to assist in the identity of our culture. This trend has been demonstrated by the growth of our Fraternity.

To provide an opportunity for OU students and Athens community members to grow spiritually and socially within a Christian context.

APPALACHIAN STUDENT UNION

ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS

The association provides opportunities for students working toward degrees in journalism and other communication areas to network, enhance academic excellence, and gain practical experience with internships and professional development.

ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIANS- Inactive

Promote unity among all Nigerian students, alumni, staff and friends of Nigeria at Ohio University, irrespective of color, creed, religion or ethnic affiliation.

ATHENS BLACK CONTEMPORARY DANCERS (ABCD)

ABCD is a group of predominately African American dance majors at Ohio University. They cover a wide range of dance genres including jazz, hip hop, contemporary, modern, tap and lyrical.

BLACK STUDENT BUSINESS CAUCUS (BSBC)

Black Student Business Cacus was established in 1988. Its purpose is to introduce students to the issues of excellence and diversity as well as techniques necessary for survival in the corporate arena. Members participate in an annual business trip, excellence conferences, community service, and current events discussions. Dues are $10 per quarter and meetings are held weekly.

BLACK STUDENT CULTURAL PROGRAMMING BOARD (BSCPB)

The purpose of the Black Student Cultural Programming Board is to provide social, cultural, educational, and recreational programs for African American students and other multicultural students. We seek to expose others to the culture, thoughts, and prospective's of African Americans throughout the Ohio University community as well as the Athens community. Our goal is to serve as a resource for the empowerment of the cultural programming at Ohio University.

BLACK STUDENT UNION (BSU)

BSU's purpose is to establish a cohesive bond between African American students. We provide a forum where voices, opinions, goals and differences can be heard. We seek to be an "umbrella" organization to black organizations.

DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC (Epsilon Iota Chapter)

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need.  It is an organization of college educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community.

DIVINE COVERING

To provide a spiritual covering and safe haven for God's people where they can receive spiritual supplementation and growth.

FACES MODELING CLUB

To unite the Ohio University community and students through the fashion, community service and entertainment.

HIP HOP CONGRESS - OU

The Hip Hop Congress uses culture of Hip Hop to inspire young people to get involved social action, civic service, and cultural creativity. It is the product of a merger of artists and students, music and community.

The fundamental purpose is achievement in every field of human endeavor.

LATINO STUDENT UNION (LSU)

To promote higher education, cultural events, and brotherhood and sisterhood within the Latino community.

MARVELOUS DANCERS

MINORITY ASSOCIATION OF PREMEDICAL STUDENTS (MAPS)

The purpose of MAPS is to focus on the needs of minority pre-professional students. We strive to encourage students and provide a support system during undergraduate years. We also focus on giving back to the community.

MULTICULTURAL GREEK COUNCIL (MGC)

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF COLORED PEOPLE (NAACP)

We strive to create an organization that will stand up for the African- American community. We will also work in the form of preventative action to educate ourselves and others in order to lessen cases in which formal action needs to be taken.

NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL (NPHC)

The governing body of all six historically black fraternities and sororities, to promote unity in the community, and to improve conditions for minorities.

NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS (NSBE)

To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

NATIVE PEOPLES AWARENESS COALITION (NPAC)-Inactive

To spread awareness of Native American lifestyles, cultures, traditions and contemporary issues. We strive to provide different aspects of Native Culture to OUT and the Athens community.

OHIO UNIVERSITY RECRUITING SOCIETY (OURS)

To help recruit and retain multicultural students through campus programming.

Since its humble beginnings on the Howard University campus, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity continues to be on the front line, leveraging its power, influence and more than 100 years of commitment to the uplift of our people and our communities.

Salaam Student Union of Ethiopian and Eritrean Heritage (SSU) aims to foster Ethiopian and Eritrean solidarity and friendship, as well as to promote the history, cultures, and traditions of our peoples to the Ohio University community. “Salaam” translates to hello or peace. So, Salaam and welcome to our family here at OU! 

We host fun activities, workshops, and our annual event Salaam Superwoman: Acknowledgment of Ethiopian and Eritrean Women in Ohio

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority's aim is to enhance the quality of life within the community. Public service, leadership development and education of youth are the hallmark of the organization's programs and activities. Sigma Gamma Rho addresses concerns that impact society educationally, civically, and economically.
