Biography

Ellie Clark is an actor, producer, director, and teaching artist whose career spans theatre, film, television, commercial campaigns, and arts education. She serves as an Assistant Professor in Ohio University’s School of Theater and Artistic Director of Tantrum Theater, the university’s resident professional theater company.

As an actor, Ellie’s television credits include The Wonder Years (ABC), First Wives Club (BET), Johnson (Bounce TV), and a recurring role on Seasons 4, 5, and 6 of Tyler Perry’s Sistas. Her film work includes numerous independent feature films, short films, and M.F.A. thesis films, as well as national and regional commercial campaigns for Wayfair, Haverty’s, Traditional Bank, and others. Her theatre credits include work with Actors Theatre of Louisville, Tantrum Theater, South Carolina Repertory Company, Woodford Theatre, Lexington Shakespeare Festival, KCT Summerfest, Granbury Opera House, Lakes Region Summer Theatre, Phoenix Group Theater, and Actors Guild, among others. She has also performed internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.

Ellie has been a teaching artist for 20+ years, working with actors and emerging artists at universities, conservatories, studios, and arts programs. She served as Artistic Director of Arvold Warner Studio (AWS), founded by Emmy-nominated casting director Erica Arvold and master teacher Richard Warner, where she trained and consulted with actors and screen artists pursuing professional careers. She also served as Head of Drama and Movement Specialist for Kentucky’s Governor’s School for the Arts and continues to serve the program as a consultant and guest teacher.

Ellie is deeply committed to arts advocacy and leadership. She is a co-founder of Voices Amplified, an arts organization dedicated to creating opportunities for artists and strengthening connections between the arts and their communities. Her professional service includes visiting artist engagements at universities and acting studios, grant review for arts foundations, and serving as a moderator, summit speaker, and panelist on topics including arts leadership, advocacy, and activism.

Ellie has trained extensively with Anne Bogart and SITI Company in Viewpoints, Suzuki, and Composition. She earned an M.F.A. in Performance from Ohio University’s Professional Actor Training Program.
