Someone Showed Up: Southern Ohio Prevention Conference

The Ross County Youth Coalition invites you to a powerful one-day conference that brings together professionals, educators, service providers, community leaders, and advocates from across Southern Ohio who are passionate about making a difference for children and families.

This year's conference, entitled Someone Showed Up, is free, and attendees can earn up to 7 CEUs. Lunch is free for attendees.

Purpose

This year’s theme focuses on the impact of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and the incredible difference it makes when someone shows up with consistency, compassion, and intention. Through dynamic, interactive sessions, you’ll gain practical tools, fresh ideas, and meaningful connections that you can immediately bring back to your work.

Explore strategies, programs, research, and real-life stories that strengthen the 7 key PCEs, from supportive relationships and belonging to safe, nurturing environments, all proven to build resilience and improve lifelong outcomes.

Who Can Attend

Social workers, counselors, teachers, prevention specialists, substance abuse counselors, law enforcement, youth-serving professionals, community members, and anybody interested in creating a safe and healthy community for our youth.

Free Continuing Education Credits will be provided for social workers, prevention specialists, chemical dependency counselors, and teachers.

Prevention Program Specialist
Ohio Department of Behavioral Health Office of Community and Family Resiliency

Javier is a proud product of effective youth-led prevention and credits this experience with his fueling his passion for serving communities. He has worked in the prevention field for over 20 years and has an extensive background and experience in behavioral change marketing. The primary focus of his work with DBH is supporting Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Boards across the state with their efforts to engage in, promote, and provide resources for effective services in their counties.
