Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Undergraduate Certificate

Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Undergraduate Certificate

The undergraduate Certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies offers students an opportunity to engage in a rich academic program that addresses gender and sexuality and their intersection with race, class, and other aspects of diversity.

The certificate is comparable to a minor in that it requires about the same number of credit hours. The advantage of the certificate is that it is interdisciplinary, allowing students to study issues relating to gender and sexuality from a variety of perspectives. As such, it provides an excellent complement to the wide variety of undergraduate majors available at Ohio University.

'WGSS Opened My Mind'

“WGSS opened my mind to the possibilities of what I wanted to do and who I wanted to work with. My classes motivated me to focus my energy with the queer population and work more competently with people with diverse gender experiences," says Gabriela Grijalva '21/'16MCW, who earned an undergraduate WGSS Certificate and a B.A. and Master in Social Work and is a licensed social worker practicing in Southeast Ohio.
