Research Interests
Dr. Forney’s research program addresses questions about the risk factors for and the maintenance of eating pathology, with the ultimate aim of informing intervention efforts. In doing so, she utilizes both non-clinical and clinical samples to examine the interaction of risk and maintenance factors across psychological, social, behavioral, and physiological domains. Ongoing and upcoming projects are examining the role of anxiety and interoception in gastrointestinal symptoms, and the validity and correlates of the atypical anorexia nervosa diagnosis.
