Fall 2019 OHIO Signature Awards

Ohio University is pleased to feature the OHIO Signature Awards, a set of scholarships and grants designed to recognize the excellent achievements and contributions of the fall 2019 freshman class. Built to honor and assist our students in accordance with the University's twin missions of excellence and access, the new and expanded program includes generous merit-based scholarships, supportive need-based grants, and a set of awards unique to Ohio University that blend both merit- and need-based criteria.

All first-year students who are new to the Athens campus of Ohio University in fall 2019 are eligible for consideration to become an OHIO Signature Scholar. The application for admission serves as the application for merit-based scholarships.

Fall 2019 first-year students with complete applications by December 1, 2018, will be considered automatically for all available OHIO Signature Awards. Eligibility is based on the following:

  • Academic merit as demonstrated by strength of curriculum and cumulative high school grade point average, in addition to either the highest composite ACT or combined SAT math and evidence-based reading and writing scores from any test date (ACT writing and SAT essay scores are not considered in the review process for OHIO Signature Awards.)
  • The highest standardized test score and high school GPA (weighted or unweighted) received by Ohio University by January 15, 2019, will be considered in determining eligibility for OHIO Signature Awards. OHIO may continue to award using updated credentials on an individual basis throughout the year.
  • Financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) results received in the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships by the first priority date of January 15, 2019. Students will be considered on a rolling basis after the first priority date.
