I welcome you to the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University. This distinguished College has been in existence for over 75 years, bringing comprehensive arts and cultural resources to the Ohio Valley region. Our students come from nearly every state in the U.S., as well as from many foreign countries. Athens has become a center of gravity for the creative economy in the Appalachian region. Its stunning topography, low cost of living, and concentration of nationally and internationally ranked artists has created an environment where the arts inform life every day.
In 2012, U.S. News and World Report ranked the graduate programs in Fine Arts at Ohio University as #53 in the country. The strength of our graduate programs has historically raised the quality of the undergraduate experience on campus, both for our undergraduate arts majors and for the general students at Ohio University. Arts for Ohio, a student-led initiative funded by the Provost's Office, provides support every year for innovative arts programming on campus that touches the lives of every person at Ohio University and in the region.
For students interested in majoring in the arts, we offer comprehensive programs in studio art, interior architecture, graphic design, dance, theater, film, music, music education, music therapy, and interdisciplinary arts. An astounding number of these programs have received national recognition. Opportunities abound on campus and in the area for arts majors to engage in innovative and interdisciplinary explorations, providing essential preparation for the complex career of an emerging artist.
Explore our schools and I think you'll catch our vision: to provide the nation's best transformative learning community in the arts!
