Joe Bianco is a clinical psychologist and Associate Professor of Social and Behavioral Medicine at the Heritage College for Osteopathic Medicine. His teaching, research and scholarship examine the effects of traumatic stress on health through a narrative lens. Through extensive funding, he has developed specialized training programs in trauma-informed care for rural primary care clinics. Joe is one of the co-founders of the Open Book Project, a narrative medicine initiative dedicated to inclusion, social justice, and celebrating underrepresented voices in health care. He serves as the Associate Chair of the Department of Social Medicine and is the co-host and co-producer of the Defining Moments podcast.
