Cayuse “Outside Interests” will replace the LEO “Conflict of Interest” module. This module will be used by faculty, staff and students who are Key Investigators on Sponsored Projects and/or Investigators conducting research with human subjects who need to disclosure a significant financial conflict of interest related to the IRB study.

Key Investigators are defined as PI, Co-PI, Co-I, Investigator, Fellow and Mentor.

Questions about the system, email cayuse@ohio.edu. Disclosure specific questions, email compliance@ohio.edu.

Cayuse Transition Timeline FAQ's for Sponsored Projects

I need to renew my annual disclosure in LEO before August 1. What should I do?

If you are an Investigator on an active sponsored project, you will need to renew your disclosure in LEO.  If you are not currently on an active sponsored project, you do not need to renew in LEO.

I just renewed my annual disclosure in LEO. Will I need to do it again in Cayuse?

If you are an Investigator on an active sponsored project, you will need to disclose again in Cayuse during the annual campaign.  This is because disclosures must be renewed at least annually, and within 30 days of a change to the disclosure.

I have a disclosure in LEO’s Conflict of Interest module but I’m not an Investigator on a Sponsored Project. If I shouldn’t disclose in LEO or Cayuse, who do I inform?

If you are a faculty member, please refer to the faculty handbook, page 67, Section D, “Participation in Outside Work”.  If the faculty handbook does not apply, please contact the Office of Legal Affairs.

Cayuse Transition Timeline FAQ's for IRB Studies

I have an unfunded IRB study in LEO and now realize that I should have disclosed a study related financial conflict of interest. What should I do?

Submit a study amendment in LEO indicating that you need to modify the informed consent form to notify potential participants of a conflict of interest related to the study.

Differences from LEO to Cayuse

Disclosure Form: Instead of one disclosure form that you can submit at any time, there will be an annual campaign period that will run August 1 through September 15 of each year. All current Investigators on Sponsored Projects will be included in the annual campaign.
Annual Disclosure: Multiple disclosures can be entered into the one annual disclosure form.
Research-based Disclosure: There is also research-based disclosure form that will be completed by Investigators at the time of Sponsored Project award. This will NOT cause duplicative entries of information.
Management Plan: If a management plan is created, the Investigator will be asked to sign the management plan as acknowledgment and acceptance.
Workflow Changes: There is not a workflow process for supervisors to review, comment or approve disclosures.  Instead, supervisors will be made aware of management plans related to conflict of commitment.
