Human Subject Research
All studies by faculty, students or staff that involve human subjects are considered human subjects research by the federal government. This includes everything from clinical trials to surveys, interviews, and observation. Any research -- including masters and doctoral projects -- that calls for participation by people must be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) before the project can begin.

Conflict of Interest
All Ohio University faculty and employees must complete a conflict of interest form before receiving grants from an external funding source. The form, which must be completed annually, helps the university ensure that all research activities are in compliance with federal, state and university policies.
The federal government recently released significant changes to the research conflict of interest regulations. This session will provide more information about these and how they might impact you. Open to students, faculty and staff. No pre-registration required. If a department or research group with more than 5 attendees wishes to schedule training at their site and/or a different time (including evening sessions) they can contact Jo Ellen Sherow in the Office of Research Compliance, sherow@ohio.edu, 740-597-1267.
