Dr. Beth Quitslund (she/her) is a Professor of English and currently serves as the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at Ohio University. In this role, she is responsible for facilitating faculty processes, shared governance, and faculty professional development. This includes overseeing the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment and the Office of Instructional Design, and she has administrative responsibilities for the Chairs & Directors Council, Associate Deans Council, and the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (TLA) Committee.

Previously, Dr. Quitslund served as Chair of the English Department and (twice) Interim Associate Dean of the Graduate College. Other roles and responsibilities during her time as OHIO faculty include stints as Faculty Senate Chair, Chair of the University Curriculum Council’s Individual Course Committee, and Chair of the Executive Committee of the Chairs & Directors Council, as well as Vice Chair of the state-wide Ohio Faculty Council.

She holds degrees in History & Literature (A.B.) from Harvard College and English (Ph.D.) from the University of California at Berkeley. Her scholarship focuses on the literature and culture of the English Renaissance and Protestant Reformation, with areas of interest in poetic form, Reformation liturgies and worship, Biblical translation, and mostly mediocre religious lyrics.
