Course Extensions

Print-Based Courses

To compensate for delays that may occur in shipping/receipt of materials/grading, extension requests may be granted as follows:

  Extension Length Granted if Completed Completed By Fee
1st 4 months 50% of course End of original 8 months $50
2nd 4 months 75% of course End of first extension (12 months) $50

Extensions are not automatic and must be requested by mailing the extension request form, which is included in the course guide. Students may appeal the print-based course extension guidelines when extenuating circumstances are involved. All appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Course Credit by Examination

Extension requests may be granted as follows:

No additional extensions will be considered for CCEs.

Correctional Education Print-Based Course Extensions

The course extension policy is different for Correctional Education students taking print-based courses.

Print-Based Courses

To compensate for delays that may occur in shipping/receipt of materials/grading, extension requests may be granted as follows:

1st 4 months 25% of course End of original 8 months Free
2nd 4 months 50% of course End of 1st extension (12 months) $50
3rd 4 months 75% of course End of 2nd extension (16 months) $50

Extensions are not automatic and must be requested by mailing the extension request form which is included in the course guide. Students may appeal the print-based course extension guidelines when extenuating circumstances are involved. Typically, circumstances related to the student’s incarceration, such as solitary confinement, moves, etc., are not considered extenuating. If an extenuating circumstance exists, the advisor must be notified within the first six months of enrollment. All appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
