Student Affairs announces service hours, changes during suspension of in-person instruction

Ohio University’s Division of Student Affairs has announced temporary changes in light of the University’s decision to suspend in-person instruction through March 30.

Culinary Services

Culinary Services has closed all dining venues, except West 82 on the first floor of Baker University Center, through March 30, and there will be no food service options available for employees on campus, regardless of meal plan status. If a student receives approval from Housing and Residence Life to stay on campus and elects to participate in the modified meal plan, their meals will be provided at West 82. This will be carryout style service; no seating will be available. All meal plans will be accepted. Additionally, Culinary Services will continue to provide its sick meal program to those students listed above during this time. More information is available on the Culinary Services website.

Counseling and Psychological Services

Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) is open and available to support the campus community. CPS acknowledges the impact on Ohio University students related to Coronavirus and recognizes that is typical to experience anxiety, worry, or fear. If students are in distress, CPS is available to help. Students may contact CPS at any time by calling 740-593-1616. If calling after hours, press 1 to be connected to a counselor. Students can also visit the CPS website.

Housing and Residence Life

To make it easier to retrieve personal belongings, Housing and Residence Life is programming building access to on-campus OHIO IDs Thursday, March 12 through Monday, March 16 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to retrieve items from on-campus residences. Students who are ill are asked not to return to campus. Students who have extenuating circumstances that will not allow them to access their belongings during the timeframe stated should send an email to housing@ohio.edu with details regarding of their request. As an additional point of information, the three campus mail centers will be open March 12 through March 14 to allow for retrieving packages and mail.

Any student who has an extenuating circumstance and needs to reside on campus March 15–30 must submit a request and receive approval prior to returning to campus. Students currently residing on campus during spring break must also submit the request and receive approval. To submit a request please visit www.ohio.edu/myhousing, click on “Contracts and Applications” and submit the “Return to Campus Authorization Request” application. Requests will be reviewed daily and responded to within 24 hours by a committee with approvals limited to extenuating circumstances that will be subject to verification.
