Janetta King is a graduate of Pepperdine University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English.  She studied government and politics internationally while living in Heidelberg, Germany, working for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. and supervising elections in Kosovo and Bosnia.

Before founding Innovation Ohio in 2011, King served as the deputy chief of staff for policy for Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. Working with state agencies, legislators and stakeholders, she lead implementation of the governor’s signature public policy agenda, including passing legislation to ensure every Ohio child has access to affordable healthcare; Ohio’s advanced energy standards bill; the first bipartisan jobs stimulus bill in the country; and a complete overhaul of Ohio’s education system and funding formula. Prior to working in his statehouse office, King was the chief policy advisor on Governor Strickland’s 2006 gubernatorial campaign and worked as a policy aide and legislative director in his congressional office in Washington, D.C. beginning in 2002. Throughout her career, King worked on economic development, education and healthcare issues to make a meaningful impact on lives of Ohio’s working families.
