Mateo Galvano is the Head of Learning & Engagement at the Kennedy Museum of Art and the Recruitment & Retention Liaison at the School of Art + Design. Galvano holds an MFA and a BFA in Studio Art, along with a Certificate of Museum Studies from Ohio University. His multimedia studio and exhibition practice reflects an experimental approach to ideas and presentation strategies. Primarily engaged with abstract painting, Galvano uses drawing, sculpture, digital media, the moving image, and installation to develop conceptual themes that inform the images and objects he creates. Galvano’s work is frequently featured in solo and group exhibitions and is included in national and international private collections. Recent awards include residency fellowships from the Jentel Foundation, Willapa Bay AiR, and the Ucross Foundation.
