Film Minor

The Film minor allows students to explore the art, history, and theory of cinema while developing practical skills in filmmaking and screenwriting. With a flexible curriculum, students elect to focus their studies on screenwriting, film production, film studies and or general exploration of film. The minor enhances visual storytelling, critical thinking, and media literacy.

The Film Division offers a film minor for undergraduate students majoring in other fields, but who wish to expand their knowledge of film.

Career Opportunities with a Film Minor

A minor in Film enhances students’ abilities to analyze media, think critically, and understand visual storytelling — skills that are valuable across many fields. It complements majors such as Media Arts, Journalism, Marketing, Creative Writing, English, Political Science, and Business. Graduates can apply their knowledge in film production, screenwriting, media analysis, education, entertainment, and various creative industries.
