Dr. DeQuindre C. Hughes is a counselor educator and former elementary school counselor licensed in Tennessee and Ohio. He earned his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Ohio State University, where he focused on innovative, equity‑centered approaches to preparing future school counselors.

Guided by a strengths‑based philosophy, Dr. Hughes emphasizes the talents, cultural assets, and developing capacities of counselors‑in‑training. His teaching and supervision counter deficit‑based narratives and help students view challenges as opportunities for growth and professional identity development.

He is committed to cultivating learning environments that honor human dignity, center equity, and prepare emerging counselors to serve diverse PK–12 communities with competence, compassion, and a justice‑oriented mindset.
