Biography
Shalon van Tine is a cultural historian who specializes in American and world history. Her research interests lie generally in the areas of social and cultural history, the history of science and technology, economic and political history, film and media studies, art history, and music history. Her current research focuses on the political, economic, social, cultural, and technological developments that influenced Generation X.
Dr. van Tine is currently an Assistant Professor of Instruction with Ohio University. She has also taught history and humanities courses for University of Maryland, as well as graduate courses for incarcerated students through California State University’s prison education program.
She holds a Ph.D. in American History, an M.A. in World History, an M.A. in Humanities, and a B.A. in Philosophy. A list of publications, talks, and media appearances can be found on her website.
