Biography
Matt Hartman is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Management, primarily teaching Introduction to Management and Organization as part of the College's second-year Integrated Business Cluster (IBC). He also serves as the Director of the Copeland Scholars Honors Program, helping students build community while developing the leadership and professional skills needed for successful careers.
Before joining Ohio University, Matt spent more than 15 years leading outdoor education programs and facilities, with responsibilities spanning operations, marketing, budgeting, human resources, and risk management. He has also spent more than 20 years teaching wilderness medicine and operates a wilderness medicine training business. Together, these experiences continue to shape his practical, experience-based approach to teaching leadership, strategy, and organizational management.
Outside the classroom, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, exploring trails on foot or his mountain bike, and tackling just about any outdoor adventure. He also likes coaching and sport, often connecting sports management decisions around larger themes in management and organizational behavior.
