Biography
Emily Votaw is the arts and culture producer and reporter at WOUB Public Media, where she covers the arts in Southeast Ohio, Appalachia and beyond with a particular focus on music. Her interview subjects have included Randy Newman, Ken Burns and Fran Lebowitz.
Mentoring students is a big part of the job. WOUB serves as an experiential learning unit of the Scripps College of Communication, and Votaw connects aspiring arts journalists with real professional assignments. Her correspondents have covered Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival, one of the largest rock festivals in the country, along with major concerts by acts like My Chemical Romance.
