The Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences program at Ohio University ensures a well-rounded undergraduate education. Students develop skills and knowledge in scientific and humanistic areas, with a strong emphasis on communication abilities, scholarship, professionalism, service, and multicultural engagement.

The curriculum integrates a sequence of interdisciplinary coursework with courses designed to provide a sound understanding of normal human communication processes and an introduction to speech-language pathology and audiology.

The curriculum integrates a sequence of interdisciplinary coursework with courses designed to provide a sound understanding of normal human communication processes and an introduction to speech-language pathology and audiology.

To earn this Bachelor of Science degree, students must complete 27 semester hours of Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences coursework, as well as six to eight semester hours of specific courses in anthropology, biology, interpersonal communication, mathematics, physics, or psychology.

Careers with a Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences Degree

Well-qualified students graduating from the program apply to graduate programs in hearing, speech and language sciences to prepare them to become speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists or to pursue a Ph.D. for a career in research and teaching.
