Graduate student Ashley Doria headed toward the Southern Hemisphere to take Western notions of equality, efficacy and emotion and flip them on their head to develop an even more inclusive understanding of Feminist Theory.

Her research lens is a seamless blend between Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies alongside Geography, an exciting new field called Emotional Geography.

She traveled to southern Kenya and northern Tanzania to study Maasai women—and how they use scarce resources in their male-dominated communities to start profitable businesses.
