Professor Livanis is an Associate Professor of Strategy & International Business at Ohio University and has research interests in the areas of Global Strategy, Innovation, and Organization Design. A native of Greece, he has received his Ph.D. and MSc degrees in Applied Economics, minoring in Mathematics and Finance, under a full scholarship from the University of Florida.
Prior to Ohio University, Professor Livanis has led courses on Business and Corporate Strategy, International Business, Operations Management, and Business Statistics in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. He has also taught courses in Financial Management and Economics at the online MBA of Northeastern University as well as courses on Game Theory and Dynamic Optimization at Babson College and the University of Florida.

Professor Livanis was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Recognition in 2021 from the College of Business at Ohio University, and of the General Electric Best Teacher of the Year in 2018 from the D’Amore-McKim School of Business and a finalist for the same award in 2016. He was also the recipient of Northeastern University’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2010 and has been nominated by his students for the same award in 4 consecutive years. He was also nominated for the United States Professor of the Year Award in 2010 and was voted as “Favorite Faculty” by the 2013 graduating senior class of Northeastern University.

Professor Livanis has published in the leading journals of management and economics and he has received and been nominated for multiple awards. Most recently, his research has been awarded the Research Methods Best Paper Award from the Academy of International Business in 2017, nominated for Best Conference Paper Award from the Strategic Management Society in 2017, and was a finalist for Best Paper Award in Emerging Economies Research from the Academy of International Business in 2018. He serves in the editorial review board of the Journal of International Business Policy and of Global Strategy Journal. He has also served as a topic editor at Administrative Sciences.
