January 24 - 25: New Years' Resolution Sale: 15% off all Personal Training Packages

January 26: Midnight Meltdown at Bird Arena. From: 10:30pm till 12:30am, General Admission: $3.50 per person, Skate Rental: $3.00 per person

January 26: Biggest Loser Program, This is a 6 week program that includes an initial fitness assessment, workout challenges, guest speakers, and post assessments. The Biggest Loser program will be held Monday and Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.  The cost is $35.

February 3: Workshops begin: $35/8 week program

February 3: Superbowl Party, 5 p.m., FREE event for members

February 4-14: Valentine's Day Massage Packages

February 8: Sibs Weekend: Stargazing and Campfire at the Ridges– $7; Join Outdoor Pursuits and Astronomer George Eberts for an evening of stargazing and campfire fun.  We will spend the evening roasting marshmallows, spotting constellations, gazing through a telescope, and listening to tales of the night sky and Ridges lore. Fee includes transportation and campfire snacks.  Event is from 7:00 pm -11:00 am. Registration Deadline: February 6, 10 PM

February 9: Sibs Weekend: Old Mans Cave Day Hike– $15; Old Man Winter is heading to Old Man's Cave to put up winter decorations! Come check out the several story icicles, sandstone cliffs, and rock formations. With wintery trails and rewarding scenery, this is a great way to spend a Saturday! Fee includes transportation and guide staff. Trip departs at 10AM and returns at 3PM. Registration Deadline: February 5, 10PM

February 9: OHIO UNIVERSITY'S 10TH ANNUAL SKATING INVITATIONAL; This is a competition that any U.S. Figure Skating member can participate in. Skaters will travel from several states to compete and be judged on various skating disciplines. Tickets to view this event can be purchased at the door on the day of the event.

February 9: Bobcat Big Top, Sibs Weekend, 2-6 p.m., This event is for students and their families as well as the community. The Ping Center will have inflatables, Airbrush tattoos, games, balloon Animals, magician, and a snake show. We will also have food available including, taco bowls, cookies, Mac 'n Cheese and more!

February 18: Triathlon Training Program: A nine week program that includes personalized workouts for swimming, biking, and running. Informational sessions on nutrition and technique, and a discount entry for Race for a Reason.

March 3-9: Spring Break Trip: Cumberland Island National Seashore, Georgia; - $225
Hit the beach in a new way this Spring Break! Accessible only by ferry, Cumberland Island National Seashore is home to undeveloped beaches, historic sites, cultural ruins, and island wildlife. Backpacking and staying on beaches and in maritime forest will provide an excellent opportunity to see a variety of wildlife as well as spend some time camping near the beach and in maritime forests. Registration Deadline: February 15, 10 PM

March 16: Cooper's Rock Bouldering Day Trip, - $25; Coopers Rock is nestled in the hills right outside Morgantown, WV. The boulder field is littered with magnificent boulders of all skill levels. The day will be spent hitting classic climbs and enjoying scenic views. We provide the ride so all you need is your shoes, chalk, and a positive attitude. Registration Deadline: March 15, 10 PM

March 22-24: Mt. Rogers Backpacking- $70; Enjoy the arriving spring weather on the highest point in Virginia! Mt. Rogers Recreation Area in Virginia has large rock formations, beautiful scenery, and a mixture of mountain bald and spruce-fir forests. Hike sections of the Appalachian Trail and perfect your wilderness living skills on this historical hike. A great trip for new or experienced backpackers! Registration Deadline: March 19, 8PM

March 23: Midnight Meltdown at Bird Arena. From: 10:30pm till 12:30am, General Admission: $3.50 per person, Skate Rental: $3.00 per person

March 23: Weightlifting Competition: $5: The lifts included will be a dead lift and a bench press.  Each competitor will be given 3 lift in each category to max out.

March 19: Zumbathon, 7-9 p.m., Ping Center Lounge, FREE event for members

March 30: Rappelling Day trip at Hocking Hills– $35; Join Outdoor Pursuits for a day of rappelling off the sandstone cliffs of the Hocking Hills Rappelling and Climbing area.  Participants will learn basic technique, rigging and safety skills while working their way up to the 114 foot overhang at Bent Tree.  Registration Deadline: March 27, 10 PM

April 5-7: Red River Gorge Climbing Trip- $60; The Red River Gorge in Kentucky is a world class climbing destination and home to over 1,300 established rock climbs.  Our staff will show you these excellent climbing areas as well as provide the knowledge and experience to have a safe and fun adventure. Registration Deadline: April 2, 10 PM

April 6: Mom's Weekend Zumbathon, 1-3 PM @ Area A Ping: $5

April 6: Mom's Weekend: Old Mans Cave Day Hike– $15; Join Outdoor Pursuits on a day hike through the Old Mans Cave region of Hocking Hills State Park.  This area is scattered with a variety of geologic features including waterfalls, sandstone cliffs, and rock formations.  A great way to spend the day with your family! Fee includes transportation and guide staff. Trip departs at 10AM and returns at 3PM. Registration Deadline: April 2, 10PM

April 6 & 7: Mom's Weekend: Zip Line Adventure- $20; Calling all Moms and students - head for the Ridges to catch some air on the Outdoor Pursuits zip line! We'll provide the equipment and instruction, you provide the excitement as you climb to the take-off platform and fly down a 300 foot zip line. Destined to be the talk of Mom's weekend, so sign up early. Fee includes all equipment, instruction, and optional shuttle to the zip line facility. Zipline from 1-5pm. Registration Deadline: April 3, 10 PM

April 9: Sports Conditioning, Ping Center Lounge, FREE event for members. This will be an intense workout with a focus on sports conditioning. 

April 13: Annual ICE SHOW- Saturday: The ice show is a themed event offered at the end of the season. All of the skaters from group and private lessons, synchronized skating, and the coaching staff are invited to perform. Tickets to view this event can be purchased at the door on the day of the event. 

April 12: Dolly Sods Backpacking– $50; Have a front seat to spectacular Spring colors in one of the most beautiful places in the Appalachian mountains. Dolly Sods, WV provides crystal steams, rocky vistas, and plenty of stars for our night time campfires. A great trip for new or experienced backpackers! Registration Deadline: April 9, 10 PM

April 13: Learn to Canoe- $20; Learn the right stuff to start enjoying the sport of canoeing! This 4 hour clinic packs in essential skills and plenty of practice to get your canoe going safely where you want it to go. Led by an American Canoe Association certified instructor. Youth ages 12 and over that are accompanied by an adult participant are encouraged to register. Clinic will be held at Lake Boat Dock at Stroud's Run State Park. Registration Deadline: April 9, 10 PM

April 19-21: Sightseeing in Washington DC– $90; Come check out the sites and the cherry blossoms of Washington DC this spring. We'll visit the Smithsonian Museums and as many sites as we can squeeze in during a weekend, while camping at Greenbelt National Park. Visit the nation's capital with Outdoor Pursuits. Registration Deadline: April 16, 10 PM

Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30pm, Kayaking Clinics ~ Free; The Aquatic Center; Every Tuesday evening 9:30-11:30, Outdoor Pursuits heads inside to the pool to Kayak Clinics. Our experienced staff will show you the basic strokes, techniques, and equipment used in whitewater kayaking. Drop in for the whole two hours or just for a splash. Kayak Clinics are FREE, but you must have your student ID to be admitted into the aquatic center.

Ongoing Events

TBA, Belay Clinics ~ $5; Contact Adam Brite  at: ab311004@ohio.edu; Where: The Climbing Wall; Be a responsible climber and learn to belay with Outdoor Pursuits. We will teach you the basic skills you need to belay safely with common belay devices. A necessary skill for all climbers, having a belay certification will allow you to belay other climbers at our wall and give you the basic skills to belay outside with more experienced climbers.  Sign up at The Climbing Wall. Two to four registrants are required for the clinic to run. 

TBA Learn to Climb Clinics ~ $5; If you want to expand your climbing abilities, this clinic is for you. Come join our experienced staff for a couple hours of climbing outside of our normal operating hours. We will help you improve regardless of your current ability. We can help you with technique, strength and endurance training, and a host of other topics to help you progress.You'll have no waiting for ropes to open up, and you'll get quality feedback about your form and technique. TBA Bouldering Clinics ~ Free; Where: Meet at the Climbing Wall at 4:45pm and come boulder around Athens till Dark! Bouldering is a style of rock climbing generally without ropes, but at a low height and often over a "crash" pad.  Outdoor Pursuits will take you outdoors to explore the local bouldering areas and practice technique. We'll adjust to fit the group's needs and abilities. This is a great way to get familiar with the outdoor climbing that the Athens area has to offer.  Transportation and instruction provided.  Climbing shoes are highly recommended and may be rented at the climbing wall for $5.  Maximum of 8 participants.
