If you are a student on the Athens campus experiencing a crisis that requires immediate counseling or psychological care, call or go immediately to Ohio University's Counseling and Psychological Services, located on the third floor of Hudson Health Center on the north green of campus (see campus map). Urgent-care appointments are available daily from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
When you call or walk in, let the person scheduling appointments know your situation is a crisis and that you need the earliest available appointment. A counselor will work with you to determine a plan of action that can help you resolve the immediate crisis.
Should you require emergency care when CPS is not open, please go to your local emergency room, or call the Ohio University Police Department at 740-593-1911.
If you are not experiencing an emergency but would like access to counseling or psychological care, you can schedule an appointment at CPS.
If you witness behavior of concern in another individual or group, contact the Ohio University Police Department at 740-593-1911. Any student, staff or faculty member may come to CPS during office hours or call 740-593-1616 for an emergency consultation about a person they believe could be a threat to themselves or others.
CPS offers developmental, preventive and remedial services in individual or group settings. It also provides programs that promote the intellectual, emotional, cultural and social development of Ohio University students.
We advocate a philosophy of acceptance, compassion, and support for those we serve, as well as for each other. CPS consistently strives to integrate multiculturalism into the everyday functioning and structure of the agency.
