Blackburn/Spencer Scholarship and Achievement Awards
The Blackburn/Spencer Scholarship and Achievement Awards were established by the Black Student Cultural Programming Board in 1979 in honor of Martha Jane Hunley Blackburn, the first African American woman to graduate from Ohio University and Donald A. Spencer, the first African American to serve as chairman of the Ohio University Board of Trustees. Recipients are selected based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, and outstanding contributions to Ohio University.

Latino Heritage Achievement Award 2008-2009
The Latino Heritage Achievement Awards were established to recognize outstanding students of Latino descent. All full-time undergraduate students of Latino descent attending the Ohio University Athens campus with 24 or more completed credit hours and a 2.75 cumulative grade point average are eligible to apply. Continuing seniors must be enrolled at least two quarters during the 2008-2009 academic year to be eligible.
Recipients are selected based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, and outstanding contributions to Ohio University. Three (3) achievement awards will be given for $300 each for the 2008-2009 academic year. The award amount will be applied directly to the student's account. All award applicants must have a 2008-2009 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file in the Ohio University Office of Financial Aid.
