Spotlight Workshop Description: Even when faculty employ the best teaching strategies in existence, students cannot be optimally successful unless they understand their own learning processes. The good news is that there is a plethora of emerging research in the area of the science of learning. That said, understanding and applying findings of cognitive neuroscientists, psychologists, and education specialists in ways that can be used by students is difficult. This session will assist faculty to better understand and implement the newest findings in the science of learning so that students may better understand how they acquire, retain, and recall new information.

Dr. Todd Zakrajsek is the Executive Director of the Academy of Educators in the School of Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill.

A complimentary copy of Dr. Zakrajsek’s book, “The New Science of Learning: How to Learn in Harmony With Your Brain” co-authored with Dr. Terry Doyle, will be available to the first 30 registrants who RSVP and attend. More info can be found at: <>
