Voinovich School Welcomes New Students
September 20, 2011
Ohio University students filled the Walter Hall rotunda last week to be welcomed into the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.
The annual reception was attended by over 100 people from within the Voinovich School including energy and the environment; entrepreneurship and regional development; policy innovation and strategic leadership program areas. Students pursuing master’s degrees in public administration and environmental studies, and undergraduate degrees through Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College were among those welcomed into the School.
Dr. Mark Weinberg said that although the school is one of the nation’s 270 schools of public affairs, the Voinovich School sets itself apart.
“The Voinovich School is not just another think tank. It’s a “do-tank”. It’s a place where people come together from different academic worlds and points of view to get things done,” he said.
Executive Vice President and Provost and Keynote Speaker Pam Benoit spoke at the event for the third year in a row, calling the Voinovich School one of Ohio University’s true treasures.
