Suleyman Gurbanov
Suleyman Gurbanov is a versatile professional with a passion for the ever-evolving realm of communication and media. Hailing from Turkmenistan, Suleyman earned his Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from the American University - Central Asia. His career journey has taken him through diverse fields, encompassing PR & Advertising, strategic communication, public diplomacy, social media management, and media production. Notably, he has collaborated with various institutions such as research think-tanks and the US State Department.
Suleyman’s commitment to academic excellence led him to pursue a Master's degree in Communication Development at Ohio University. Currently, he is working on his doctoral dissertation at the same institution. His ongoing doctoral research investigates music recommendation algorithms, probing into how these algorithms influence our music consumption patterns and considering their potential socio-political implications. Alongside his academic pursuits, Suleyman has shared his knowledge and expertise through teaching, offering courses on Media Analysis and Criticism, as well as The Evolution of Media.
His academic interests span a wide spectrum, including the philosophy of technology, media theory, critical media studies, digital aesthetics, political economy, and ecological approaches to media. Beyond his scholarly endeavors, Suleyman indulges in Russian classic and contemporary literature, enjoys delving into popular science, boasts proficiency in four languages, cherishes feline companionship, and has an affinity for experimental music. In his future incarnation, he aspires to become a medical doctor aboard an intergalactic expedition vessel or a kangaroo.
