Exercise Physiology (All Levels)

Certification is optional. There is no specific licensure or professional certifications required of exercise professionals nationally. Some organizations require exercise professionals to earn a certification. There isn’t a single certification that is accepted by hiring organizations.

Louisiana is the only state with separate qualifications.

Some certifications may require a certain number of hours of experience that is often gained through practical experiences, such as internships. MS8111 does not require an internship, but an internship is an available elective. MS8147 and MS8181 do require internships.

Nutrition (Bachelor's)

This ACEND-accredited program may be used as a pathway to become a nutrition and dietetics technician, registered (NDTR). This is a national registration. States that require licensure for dietitians typically require that applicants for licensure have graduated from dietetics/nutrition programs at regionally accredited institutions that substantially meet the same educational criteria as dietetics/nutrition programs in those states. The OHIO program meets that criteria in all 50 states, including D.C., but not the U.S. non-state territories.

Other required materials typically include evidence of passing an examination provided by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and  evidence of completion of a dietetic internship or coordinated program. Please review the table below for your individual state jurisdiction.
