Transfer Family and Guest Orientation Schedule

This schedule is for in-person summer orientation programs for Transfer student's families and guests in May, June, and July 2026. All details are subject to change.

 Orientation Parking Information
Parking for summer 1-day programs will be in Lot 132 (next to Peden Stadium), which can be found on the Campus Parking Map. Participants can use the entrance on South Green Drive and accessible parking will be available near the parking lot entrance. If you are using a GPS or other map service, please use the following address to find this parking location: 100 Richland Avenue, Athens, OH 45701. When you arrive at the lot, an orientation leader will provide you with a parking pass at the entrance.

More than 40 campus programs, services, and select off-campus groups will host tables for students and guests to explore available resources. We strongly encourage participants to attend!

9:50 - 10:25 a.m.Helping your Student Thrive
Led by the Office of the Dean of Students, this session offers families and guests an opportunity to explore how OHIO supports students in thriving both academically and personally. You’ll also gain valuable insights into the university’s expectations, ensuring your student’s success.

10:25 - 10:55 a.m.Safety and Support Panel
Join this panel to learn more about campus safety and security, as well as resources that support students holistically.

11:05 - 11:35 a.m.Understanding your Student's Academic Roadmap
This session offers an overview of how students navigate their academic journey at OHIO. You’ll learn about the general structure of academic programs, key milestones students encounter, and the resources that help them stay on track.

11:35 - 12:00 p.m.What I Wish My Family Knew
Our orientation leaders will share their own stories about interactions with their family members in their own transition. An opportunity for guests to ask direct questions of the student panel will also be included.

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.Lunch at Nelson Dining Hall
Included in your guest package, head to a delicious lunch in Nelson Commons! Your student will be eating at the same time.

1:05 - 1:55 p.m.Services to Know
Representatives from the University Registrar, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Bursar, Transportation and Parking Services, Housing and Residence Life, and Culinary Services will provide essential information to support your student’s transition.

2:00 - 2:30 p.m.Beyond BSO
Our staff will provide helpful insights into your student’s transition to college and share practical tips to support them. You’ll also be invited to take part in a Bobcat Student Orientation tradition: writing a letter to your student. These letters will be delivered a few weeks into the semester.

2:30 - 4:45 p.m.Free Time
While your student completes course registration in another building, we encourage you to connect with other guests, explore campus, or head uptown. Once students are finished, they will head to Baker University Center to check out, making Baker a convenient spot to wait for them. If you'd prefer to explore the area, visit athensohio.com for recommendations on local dining, drinks, and shops!
