Alternative Bobcat Student Orientation Options

Starting at OHIO in the Summer? 

Students beginning their studies in the summer will need to complete a pre-orientation advising meeting to register for summer courses. Summer start students will still need to attend a regularly scheduled Bobcat Student Orientation in person in May, June or July to complete requirements and register for Fall courses. 

Once you complete the Alternative Bobcat Student Orientation Request Form, the BSO Team will reach out to schedule your pre-orientation advising meeting and BSO Session. 

Unable To Attend an In Person BSO In May, June or July? 

Students who are unable to attend one of our In Person Bobcat Student Orientation dates may qualify to complete part of their BSO experience virtually. Use the Alternative Bobcat Student Orientation Request Form to submit your request to participate virtually and the BSO Team will review your submission. These are approved on a case-by-case basis, so please note that completing the form does not guarantee your eligibility for this hybrid option. 

Examples of approved circumstances include: unable to take time off work, traveling abroad for the summer, living very far from campus, or Military obligations. This is not an extensive list, so if something other than these are preventing you from attending, submit the form to see if you qualify. 

If approved, students will complete a virtual pre-orientation advising meeting to register for Fall courses over the summer. You will still be required to attend an in person BSO session in August just before the start of the semester.

Are you classified as a non-traditional (e.g., age 22 or older, Ohio University employees, etc.) student? 

If you are age 22 or older or a current Ohio University Employee, you are eligible to complete an adjusted Orientation experience. This will include a personalized session with a BSO Team member to review important information for your transition and an academic advising appointment. 

If you fit either of these categories, please complete the Alternative Bobcat Student Orientation Request Form and someone from the BSO Team will reach out to schedule next steps.
